About me
Big dreams and ideals but, at the end of the day, pleased with small steps. My motto, borrowed from Mayo Clinics, is Think Big, Start Small & Act Fast. I get to work closely with our
clients and my team every day to transform healthcare and
innovation in the social domain – what a treat! Oh and yes, sometimes, I do get a little impatient. Luckily, my teenage daughter Eva brings me down to earth with a bump. If that doesn’t work, I go out sailing on the IJsselmeer of an afternoon to get a good breath of fresh air and wonder how to restore the balance between my circle of concern and my circle of influence.
Experience and knowledge
After studying Organisation, Planning & Policy at Utrecht,
International Politics at Antwerp and an MBA at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, amongst others, I worked for Reed-Elsevier, at a strategy consultancy Nolan, Norton & Co. and at
Zürich Financial Services. As corporate strategist and adviser
for the Board of Management at the Cooperative Rabobank Group, I initiated and led the project “Oog voor de Toekomst”
[With an eye to the future], dealing with strategy and scenario
planning.
I set up BeBright and now help answer clients’ questions to do with transformation, strategy and innovation. In this rapidly changing world that includes our sector, we need vision & strategy. This won’t help however unless it leads to concrete innovation and transformation making the organisation futureproof. In addition, I initiated diagnostic research and
innovation programs and have authored publications such as Diagnose 2025, Diagnose Transformatie and the annual
ZorgEnablers with an update on healthcare technology as a possible spur driving innovation. At the same time, I co-initiate and supervise the Clinical Leadership course at the
Academie voor Medisch Specialisten [= Academy for Medical Specialists].
What I am proud of…
I am proud of my fantastic colleagues and the people I work with outside of BeBright. I am just as proud of my daughter. I am very confident in the next generation and the new batch of healthcare professionals who, with their abundant drive, competencies and creativity are going to take over the baton from us.
I’m proud too that as one of the very first certified B Corps in
the Netherlands, BeBright is able to contribute to the health and vitality of our country. With lots of drive and mutual support, team BeBright is in training for the Alpe d’HuZes so
that there too we can make a small contribution towards the struggle against cancer.
I’m also proud that every year I can go to India with a growing group of people and climb one of the mountains they have over there to work on our personal leadership skills. This helps to remind us that when we work on big and complex questions, we mustn’t lose sight of what it’s really all about: the world of systems versus the world of life.
